The Gunners are on the cusp of signing Juventus star Stephan Lichtsteiner and Sokratis Papastathopoulos, who is in the verge of signing from Borussia Dortmund for £16million.

They are also still hopeful of bagging Caglar Soyuncu having sent scouts to watch the Freiburg defender in action for Turkey during their 2-1 victory over Iran.

With the World Cup fast approaching, where prices are expected to inflate massively, Unai Emery and head of recruitment Sven Mislintat are acting quickly with a keeper high on the wish list, report Football.London.

Turkey visit Tunisia on Friday before taking on Russia on June 5, Soyuncu will then return to Germany to thrash out his future.

Atletico Madrid have also been linked with the young centre-back, as have both Manchester clubs, but Arsenal are pushing hard to get a deal done.

Soyuncu confirmed Arsenal were chasing his signature last week, telling the Turkish media: “Arsenal are one of the most important clubs in England,” he said. “I know they’re interested in me, but there’s nothing finalized yet about my transfer.

“After the national team camp we’ll have talks.”

Soyuncu has spent the past two years with Freiburg having made the move from his native Turkey as a teenager and has seen his stock rise dramatically following some impressive performances.
