Excitement as Ugandan Made Kiira Motors’ Classy Car Hits Kampala Roads

Uganda’s Kiira Motors Cooperation (KMC) over the weekend amazed the public with the release of another monster ride dubbed Kiira EV Smack that has already been seen on Kampala roads.

The KIIRA EV SMACK is a 5-seater front-wheel drive sedan with a traction motor powered by a rechargeable battery bank and an internal combustion engine-based generator and the first Electric Hybrid Vehicle designed and built in Africa.

According to Mr. Muhumuza Allan the Communication and Marketing officer at Kiira Motors, said that this configuration of two power sources ensures an unlimited range and increases the efficiency of the power-train, hence enhancing fuel economy.

“This innovative and iterative development programme was envisaged to realize KMC’s systems and requisite competences for the relevant and beneficial institutionalization of an automotive industry in Uganda.”

Muhumuza also stated adding that all the KMC cars will be available for public viewing during the Parliament week that will take place next week.

It should be noted that the vision of KMC represents the commitment of Uganda to develop indigenous solutions to her essential needs as well as being a fountain of the heritage of the Pearl of Africa.

The government of Uganda under the Ministry of Science Innovations and Technology recently revealed commitment to make the Pearl of Africa a technology hub.

Minister Elioda Tumwesigye also revealed that they have raised enough money to see that the amazing car flood on roads in the shortest time possible citing that these cars will be available for sale at a more affordable price compared to the imported ones.

“We have got government commitment to raise shs143b in four years and in the first year which is this one, they have raised Shs 24 b which Kiira Motors will have, to start up the process. We are going to start with buses because it helps in transporting so many people and then we shall go on double cabin pickups.” Minister Elioda Tumwesigye said.
