The Uganda Police Force are investigating the circumstances under which a man died in a hotel room in Apac Municipality on Monday night.
Allan Mobaho reportedly booked a room at Bangdongo Lodge in Temogo A cell, Arocha Division, on Monday evening but was discovered lying on bed lifeless on Tuesday morning.
Ms Sarah Akello, a staff at the lodge said when Mobaho checked in on Monday evening, he indicated in their visitor’s book that he was a resident of Alworoceng Village, Ibuje Sub County in Apac District.
Ms Akello said the ill-looking Mobaho did not have National Identity Card with him, but told her that he had come to town to seek medical treatment at Apac Main Hospital.
“He told me that he had spent the whole day at Apac hospital, but was not attended to as expected, and decided to try again the following day. It’s unfortunate that he didn’t make it,” Ms Akello said.
Mr Jimmy Abili, the chairman LC1 of Temogo A cell, said a medical form was found in the deceased’s bag.
According to the medical form, Mr Abili said Mobaho was diagnosed with tuberculosis and was supposed to report for treatment on Tuesday.
“He might have died of a natural death, because he was not found with any signs of harm on his body, but post mortem report with shed more light on the cause of his death,” he said on Wednesday.
The Apac District Police Commander, Mr Moses Ekudot, confirmed the incident saying that death inquiry file number SD 10/06/08/2019 has already been opened as investigations continue. He, however, declined to divulge details saying it would interfere with their investigations.
By press time, the body was at Apac hospital mortuary for post-mortem, as police were still struggling to trace the deceased’s relatives to take the body for burial.
