Namirembe guest house collapses killing 2 and leaving several injured

Today’s afternoon heavy rain fall hit hard Namirembe Guest House killing two people and leaving several injured.
The building  which is just a five minute walkable distance from Namirembe Cathedral, succumbed to heavy rains at about 4:00pm, collapsing and trapping its occupants, whose number is not yet known.

The Uganda Red Cross spokesperson, Irene Nakasiita, confirmed the building collapse and stated that the deaths still remain under two but couldn’t divulge any more details.

“Kaije coffee bar at Namirembe guest house collapsed following the heavy downpour,” she said.

The Minister for Security, Gen Elly Tumwine has rushed to the scene to ensure those still trapped inside are rescued safely and alive.
