ASP Obbu Franco, the Officer in charge Bukuya Police Station in Kassanda district is on the run for shooting dead a 13 year old boy. The victim was a pupil at Bukuya primary school.

The Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga says the officer reportedly shot dead Patrick Manihiro on Tuesday at about 6pm in Bukuya Town council. This was after the bullet missed an aggressive dog that had put residents’ lives at stake.

According to Enanga, the residents had reached out to police over the stray dog that had put the area on tension. “He confronted and fired at the vicious dog, but unfortunately missed it and the stray bullet caught the victim, killing him instantly. The suspect dropped the gun and escaped from the scene,”Enanga said, adding that a hunt for the suspect is underway.

“We believe our officer should have handled the matter in a better way. We urge him to come out of hiding and hand himself to nearest police unit,” he added. The Police Spokesperson reveals that the IGP Martins Okoth Ochola has dispatched a team to reach out to the bereaved family and to fast track the investigations to ensure the suspect is traced and brought to book.
