Rwanda’s Foreign Minister Makes First Public Comment After Alleged Food Poisoning

The Foreign Affairs Minister and Government of Rwanda Spokesman Dr Richard Sezibera is back, but is yet to make appearance.

Sezibera this past Saturday evening made a rather philosophical post on Twitter, which doesn’t give much about the state of affairs concerning him.

This Tweet is the first since July 14. However, Sezibera has not appeared public since July 11 when he was in London for a media conference organized by the UK and Canada.

Speculation has been rife around his absence, with reports citing that he was critically ill from poisoning.

Government spokesman Ofwono Opondo added more catalyst to the fire after he reposted story from one online media publishers.

Government of Rwanda did admit following this Opondo post, confirming via French magazine Jeune Afrique, that indeed Dr Sezibera is admitted in Nairobi, Kenya.

As Sezibera has been away, his junior Olivier Nduhungirehe, who is the State Minister in charge of East African Affairs, has been the office holder. He was the one traveling with President Paul Kagame and receiving diplomatic guests.
