President Samia on Sunday fired the director of the Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA) Deusdedit Kakoko who had earlier been suspended pending an investigation into loss of  public funds amounting Tsh3.6 billion ($1.55 million).

The Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau (PCCB) has since arrested Kakoko. He has been replaced by Erick Hamis.

The Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) also gets a new director in Alhayo Kidata to replace Edwin Mhede while Dr Jabir Bakari Kuwe  replaces James Kilaba at the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA).

TCRA in the past week came under criticism after data bundle prices shot up, forcing government to suspend any new packages in the sector in public interest, until they are reviewed.
