OFFICIAL: Virgil van Dijk has been named Men’s Player’ of the Year 2019.
A worthy winner.

The Dutchman has been exceptional for Liverpool this season. No opposition player has managed to dribble past Van Dijk starting from March 2018. He is often labelled as the ‘immovable object‘.

However, Van Dijk is now set to play against the one and only Lionel Messi. The Dutchman calls him ‘the best player in the world’ as he previews the upcoming Champions League semi-finals in an interview with Liverpool Echo:

“I think Messi is the best player in the world. But you see how we play and how we defend. We don’t defend one v one, we defend all together and we attack all together as well so we will see. We will be ready.”
