Paul Pogba and Jose Mourinho appeared to be involved in a tense exchange that was filmed during Manchester United’s training session on Wednesday morning.
Mourinho confirmed after the Carabao Cup defeat to Derby on Tuesday night he had revoked the vice-captain role from Pogba and the pair’s fraught relationship seemed to be captured by broadcasters Sky Sports News, who were at the club’s Carrington training complex this morning.
Pogba was filmed jogging towards assistant coach Michael Carrick, Mourinho and a member of the United press office. The Frenchman clasps hands with all three of them and Mourinho then says something to Pogba, who appears to react.

Mourinho continues talking to Pogba as he walks away to oversee training and then turns to the midfielder as the conversation continues. Pogba, who briefly stops, then catches up with Mourinho and begins to respond to the United manager but starts to become more animated as Mourinho exchanges pleasantries with other players.
As Pogba overtakes Mourinho, he begins to adamantly nod his head as the discussion seems to get more heated while staff members Ricardo Formosinho and Carlos Lalin look on. Pogba then makes another remark and holds out his hands as if surprised by what Mourinho has said in response.
After the Derby tie, Mourinho said: “The only truth is that I made the decision of Paul not to be the second captain anymore. But no fall-out. No problems at all.
“The same person that decides Paul is not second captain anymore was exactly the same person that decides that Paul was the second captain, myself. I am the manager, I can make these decisions, no fall-out at all, no problems at all, just one decision that I don’t have to explain.”
